Luxembourg-Brussels train. Connecting two EU capitals. No wifi, no heating, no restaurant cars, not even a vending machine. 1 hour slower than driving, and stops at 10 towns in between with no express options.
@StuartKLau Restaurant cars? Stuart, this is Belgium, you're lucky if you have a functioning toilet on the train. 🤣
@StuartKLau I quite like these slow-ish Brussels-Luxembourg trains. Nice views. Can think, read, focus on bigger work tasks that don't need WiFi. Agree should be other choices. But not the Brussels-Paris situation of a monopoly of fast but very, very expensive trains inaccessible to many.
@StuartKLau And occasionally it breaks down at Arlon…
@StuartKLau On a related note, I never understood George Lucas' concept of the "used future" better than when I took the Thalys from Rotterdam to Brussels...
@StuartKLau I often wonder what the role of the road and car and fuel lobbies might be when it comes to shortcomings on key rail routes. I really have no idea if that's the case or if anyone has looked closely.
