The nasty thing about it is when it lands in company's private repo then you are looking at full project compromise (because every dev will git pull). In terms of attribution, I am unsure it is a classic Contagious Interview campaign (with the same TAs attached to other, the most popular variant of CI). It's like an insane mix of dudes that were doing EtherHiding with Contagious Interview crew but they now took lessons from npm/supply chain compromise team. FamousChollima set is defined as containing both CI and ITW threat actors so maybe it should now be extended with Polin/Void (malicious commit inject) as a separate campaign. Especially that Polin/Void has its own RAT and infra that is distinct from CI (or ITW) clusters. EtherHiding in Oct, 2025 was still used with classic BeaverTail+InvisibleFerret payloads (see RT'd tweet). It was also storing b64 encoded payloads directly as tx data on BNB blockchain vs XOR-decode against a hardcoded key. Polin/Void version's decentralized infra is more polished. There was obviously no 'wormy' capability built-in back in 2025 (ie. it was basically an infostealer). Contagious Interview campaign, in what we mostly have seen through out 2024/25 (and continue to see today) never felt targeted. Polin/Void initially felt as random/opportunistic but less so now. It is not the first time TTP similarity between different DPRK sets/groups makes attribution messy. Oh, and, yeah, a different final RAT, see the next tweet (that's better and also more polished).
