Bill Clinton banned assault weapons in 1994; mass shootings dropped by 43%. George W. Bush and the GOP let the assault weapons ban expire in 2004; mass shootings increased by 245%. These numbers tell the whole story.
@Strandjunker And before 1994, I don’t recall a bunch of mass shootings. Certainly not 600 a year.
@Strandjunker @nhgrown Senator Biden was important in getting it passed.
@Strandjunker They tell a story that only fits your narrative. Guns don’t kill people. People kill people. My rights don’t end where your fear begins.
It’s a bit more complicated, but not terribly so. It’s: 1. Automatic weapons with high capacity magazines, 2. Readily accessible to deeply troubled and mentally ill persons, 3. In a society where it is more important to be famous than good. Nobody commits a mass shooting with a revolver. You can greatly reduce the incidence by eliminating one of the three. You choose.
@Strandjunker Andrea, logically explain how the AWB could have been responsible for anything when functionally identical guns were still available? What’s the difference in lethality between these two rifles? Stop believing lying politicians and anti-gun organizations.
@Strandjunker Because you literally changed the definition of a mass shooting to fit your narrative. Overall gun crime has been declining for decades despite a massive increase in gun ownership You're a liar and a grifter like all the other gun grabbing fascists.
@Strandjunker I doubt the accuracy of your numbers. Most gun crime is committed with pistols, not rifles. What is your source?
@Strandjunker Govt studies in 1999, 2004, & RAND CO in 2023 do not support a AW or HC magazine ban as effective. Because it's not the guns. ojp.gov/pdffiles1/nij/… rand.org/research/gun-p…
