🎸 THIS DAY IN ROCK HISTORY — OCTOBER 18, 1988 FIVE LEGENDS BECOME THE WILBURYS 38 years ago today, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne released Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1 under fictitious names. They became Nelson, Lucky, Lefty, Charlie T. Jr., and Otis Wilbury — five fictional brothers who happened to be rock legends. What began as a session to record a B-side for Harrison’s single “This Is Love” became one of rock’s most extraordinary collaborations. Who is your favorite Traveling Wilbury? 🔊 Now Playing: “Handle With Care”

@Metalmike3 Love this one👇

🎸 100 YEARS OF CHUCK BERRY! Before rock ’n’ roll had a rulebook, Chuck Berry was helping write it. Born October 18, 1926, he gave rock its riffs, attitude, and swagger. A century later, his influence is everywhere. No Chuck Berry, no rock ’n’ roll as we know it. What’s your favorite Chuck Berry song? 🤘 🔊 Turn it up for “Johnny B. Goode”!

🤘 DAVE GROHL & PAT SMEAR TEAM UP WITH THE PRETTY RECKLESS! Taylor Momsen called in some serious rock royalty to put a new spin on “About You,” a track from The Pretty Reckless’ 2026 album Dear God! For the newly released bonus version, Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl plays drums and guitar and contributes backing vocals, while fellow Foo Fighter Pat Smear adds guitar. Plus Grohl joins Momsen on the chorus, and the two trade vocal lines during the bridge! Momsen personally reached out to both musicians because “About You” was one of her favorite songs on the album, and she wanted to make something special. 🎸 What do you think of this collaboration? Should they record more music together?

@DJMikeBiggz @yinzer_g That’s actually really funny! 😆

🚨System of a Down is blanketing Los Angeles with light projections and posters for 2027. Spotted near Capitol Records, downtown, Pico, and off the 101. Many carry the year and a rose. 🌹Rose Bowl talk is everywhere. Nothing confirmed. Band hasn’t said a word.

@11cyberpunk Good Morning!

@sthomperVA @AlexDelarge6553 My mother always told me not to discuss politics outside of the house, hence Id avoid political standoffs in public arenas.

❓ DID YOU KNOW? You’ve probably sung along to Blondie’s “One Way or Another” a thousand times. But did you know the song was inspired by a real-life stalker? In 1973, Debbie Harry was relentlessly harassed by an ex-boyfriend. Instead of writing about being a victim, she flipped the script and sang from the stalker’s perspective. What sounds like a fun, catchy rock anthem actually has a pretty disturbing backstory. 🎸 Now that you know the story, will you ever hear this song the same way again? 🔊 Turn it up!

🎸 33 YEARS LATER… BUTCH VIG IS BACK WITH THE SMASHING PUMPKINS! For the first time since Siamese Dream (1993), the band has reunited with the legendary producer for “Black Stars,” a new song from the upcoming The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping soundtrack. The music video brings together the Pumpkins’ signature sound and the world of Panem. 🔥 Do you think this will bring back some of that classic Smashing Pumpkins magic? Check it out the new accompanying video. 📺 👇

@Randall_Flagg78 @AlexDelarge6553 Yes he did day something. Metallica concerts’ are for listening to music not listening to them preach their political views. He didn’t tell anyone else what to do. Thats not a political statement.

@Randall_Flagg78 @AlexDelarge6553 He’s been saying it for decades. People are acting like it’s something new.

✈️ FROM THE STAGE TO THE COCKPIT — BRUCE DICKINSON REALLY DID BOTH! 🤘 Most people know Bruce Dickinson as the legendary voice of Iron Maiden. But did you know he was also a professional airline captain? And we’re not talking about flying a little private plane! Bruce actually piloted Iron Maiden’s Ed Force One, first a Boeing 757 and later a massive Boeing 747, carrying the band, crew, and stage equipment around the world. And his aviation career didn’t stop there. In 2012, he founded Cardiff Aviation, later renamed Caerdav, an aircraft maintenance and aviation services company where he still serves as chairman. Heavy metal frontman. Airline captain. Aviation businessman. Some rock stars travel the world in private jets. Bruce Dickinson flew the whole damn band himself! ✈️🤘 🔊 Turn it up — Iron Maiden, “Flight of Icarus.” Did you already know Bruce was a real airline captain, or did this one surprise you? #BruceDickinson #IronMaiden #EdForceOne #FlightOfIcarus #HeavyMetal

@DJMikeBiggz @yinzer_g Ok I can’t argue with that. I’ve heard some bullshit stories while stage hands and audio techs had to fix shit.

Agreed 👍 I didn’t know who he was and had never listened to him until now. After checking him out, this is pretty much his identity and life work. They knew what they were getting when they brought him on so it shouldn’t have been a surprise. People could skip his set if they disagree with him but it was a few of the NFL owners who said it was unacceptable.

⚠️ Iron Maiden isn’t taking 2027 off after all. On October 16, the band officially confirmed a surprise North American return, adding 16 more Run For Your Lives dates from April 14 to May 16, 2027. That means the previously expected 2027 touring break is gone — and Maiden’s 50th-anniversary run now extends into more regions missed in 2026, plus two major festival headline appearances at Sonic Temple and Boardwalk Rock. Just as important: this is not a retirement announcement. These are being billed as the final shows of the Run For Your Lives tour. Special guests on the headline dates: Bullet for My Valentine and The Raven Age. 🎟️ General ticket sales begin October 23 at 10 a.m. local. Festival on-sales are separate. 🔊 Tap for sound: “Run to the Hills.” Were you expecting Maiden to take 2027 off — and which of these new dates stands out most?

Depends on how you define “political statement.” Wikipedia defines it as “any communication, action, or object that expresses a viewpoint on a political, social, or governance issue.” So does it qualify? The definition is extremely broad. According to that definition pretty much any opinion you have regarding society is a political statement. People are assuming where he stands on political issues instead of taking his statement for what it is. I saw a post saying if you support his statement you support genocide. Seriously? Plus this isn’t a new viewpoint. He’s been saying this publicly for years. I don’t think saying: We leave politics at the door and if you come see us we’ll play music because that’s what you paid for isn’t a political statement. Pushing a political agenda is. That’s just my take. x.com/roadgrimes/sta…

ELVIS SAID IT DECADES AGO. JAMES HETFIELD IS SAYING IT TODAY. 🎤🤘 After listening to both Elvis and James Hetfield’s recent comments, something stood out. They only explained what they choose to do themselves. Neither told other artists what they should or shouldn’t do. Both share the same view: concerts and entertainers are about entertaining, not lecturing or influencing political opinions. Elvis makes it clear at the end of this clip that he’s not telling other artists what to do. James just spells out what Metallica’s agenda is: “Love, energy, and heavy music!” 🤘 For him, concerts are about music, connection, and leaving the outside world behind. I think Elvis would agree. Should entertainers feel obligated to take a political stand—or is entertaining enough?

@SicSexSix @historyrock_ Exactly. He must have been living under a rock for 45 years if he thinks James is a nobody. And that was the real kicker was him not realizing most people under 40 have no idea who he is, while Metallica is a household name. 😆

Idk if you listened to Macklemore. I just did. He sounds primarily like a political activist. He actually says the reason he wanted to do the stadium tour was to spread the “free Palestine”movement. I looked into him a little. His bachelor’s degree is concentrated in Youth & Music Outreach and Critical Race Theory. His entire identity is based on CRT and social justice reform. So it sounds like it comes down to priorities. His is to spread his agenda not to play music.
