Yep, these were studies in 2013 and 2017. The same people lived on the land, later converted to different religions. It's the religion, not geography, that dictates Levantine genetics. Percentage of the original Bronze Age Canaanite/Levantine genetic profile (from 3500 years ago): 🇱🇧Lebanese Christians (~85% to 95%+): Phoenicians who converted to the various Christian sects. At some stage, they went to the Mountains and practiced strict religious endogamy (marrying within the faith) for centuries. They married between themselves or from nearby villages. 🇱🇧Lebanese Druzes (~85% to 95%+): Phoenicians who broke away and formed their unique faith around the 11th century. Some addition from people who migrated from North Syria and South-East Turkey. Also strict religious endogamy for 1000 years, so their DNA became locked in time. 🇱🇧Lebanese Muslims (Shia and Sunni) (~70% to 85%): Same Phoenicians who later converted to Islam during and after the Arab expansions. The slightly lower percentage is because Islamic empires turned cities like Beirut, Sidon, and Tripoli into major regional hubs, so there is a small amounts of outside admixture. 🇱🇧Lebanese Jews (Sephardic / Mizrahi)(~85% to 95%+): They are an ancient community from the Levant. Their genetic profile is similar to Lebanese Christians and Druze. Also centuries of strict religious endogamy. Most of them left Lebanon starting the 1967 regional war and the 1975 civil war. 🇮🇱🇵🇸🇸🇾The Bigger Levantine Picture: North Israel locals, Palestinians of the North and North Western/Coastal Syria also share the same ancient Canaanite/Levantine genetic core.

Where were you with everything that the Syrian regime did to us? So much of what happened to Lebanon since the 70s was caused by the Syrian regime and occupation. They left the weapons with Hezbollah and forced Lebanon to go down the gutter the way it did. So called Lebanese civil war period, after Taef occupation, rise of Hezbollah, fall of the banking system, education system, port explosion etc.. So now you're telling me things will be better with the coming of the Dawaesh and their Turkish little sultan overlord
