Even for those of you who hate snakes, how could you see this and be happy? To see people go out of their way to seek out a recently discovered species only to shoot it and leave the body? To find an animal that’s lived its life with minimal interaction with people and kill it.

It’s a shame what our world is, how little empathy seemingly most of the population has for animals, especially those that dont fit the status quo. We’d rather indulge in materialistic items than acknowledge and protect our rare animals, even if it means giving up just 1 thing.
@SolitaryWendigo That’s so sad. I’m guessing the motive for it was pride, so they can say that they’ve killed the largest snake in the world. Just terrible.
@SolitaryWendigo is it a recently discovered species or recently discovered individual?
@SolitaryWendigo @NikTheSoup5 Recently discovered??? NO! I am from Brazil, that specific sucuri snake even had a name and a nickname given by the local community (Town of Bonito) and she was being accompanied for a decade now, her name was Ana Júlia, we called her 'Vóvozona'. She was special to us!
@SolitaryWendigo Wait, isn’t this the same snake that biologists “””discovered””” after the indigenous people of the area agreed to show it to them?
@SolitaryWendigo Why do I feel like the killing was illegal? I thought there was a law protecting new species.
