Polymarket's Lies Finally Got Exposed Imagine watching a TikTok of a student turning $1,000 into $100,000 because Trump mentioned a fast food chain. Now imagine finding out the trade was fake, the money was fabricated, and the website was a clone. That video got millions of views. It was paid for by the platform itself. That is what the Wall Street Journal just exposed about Polymarket. The WSJ reviewed over 1,100 videos. 70% showed bets on a fake clone of Polymarket. Not one bet was real. Creators were paid between $2,000 and $3,000 a month to post fake wins. Across 118 videos, they celebrated fabricated winnings of nearly $900,000. The same bets would have lost $166,000 on the real platform. The campaign only paid creators if at least 60% of their audience was American even though Polymarket is banned from serving US users. This follows years of warning signs: a soldier using classified intel to win $400,000, a Google engineer pocketing $1.2 million with internal data, and over 1,150 disputes in 2026 alone. On June 26, a consumer protection lawsuit was filed. Minnesota has banned prediction markets. Spain blocked Polymarket in May. Regulators are drafting legislation.
