@IBKardon We argue that the answer's pretty simple: the U.S. largely helps with security against external, regional threats, using more conventional defense capabilities. China provides assistance with threats to internal or regime security, with more emphasis on police etc. 2/n
@IBKardon This is, in part, because the US and China have fundamentally different concepts of "national security" & their strategies use different tools to pursue different objectives. So each has a comparative advantage offering that type of security abroad. 3/n
