A theological debate turned into an existential horror film, Grant is fantastic as a Lucifer-like character, scary due to what he can convince you of, though the film loses its sharp focus on the second half, turning the theology focus into something else entirely. #Heretic
An interesting idea full of thematic potential, but the whole thing feels oddly flat, from the stilted dialogue and oddly put upon performances, to the matter of fact, workmanlike way it's constructed; the idea needed a more dramatic, dynamic directorial hand to work. #Juror2
Fiennes is mesmerizing as a man wracked with uncertainty in a drama that at times feels like a mystery thriller, as it deeply explores the complexities of faith vs. certainty and ambition vs. dedication, all coming together in a deeply impactful film. #Conclave
A messy, silly, mediocre finale to a messy, silly, mediocre trilogy, with a story that has potential that was squandered by uneven, bloated, meandering plotting, goofy dialogue, and obnoxious, unfunny humor. #VenomTheLastDance
A fantastic, funny ride through a whirlwind romance and its chaotic fallout, it thrives on its biting yet naturalistic dialogue and great performances to back them up. #Anora
Naomi Scott is fantastic in a sequel that is superior to the first in every way, though just like the first it tosses any thematic work the film does (and this film does a lot) for a final message that is pure nihilism that fails to really say anything on its themes. #Smile2

A nasty, unhinged, funny piece of body horror, it's great when focused on its leads and the allegory of harming yourself to maintain beauty, though it loses its footing when it tips into cartoony farce, which it does with all it's men and very much in the climax. #TheSubstance
Has a bit too many elements that it has to rush through a bit quickly, but overall it's an excellent animated family film that stands out from the crowd with its very funny and surprisingly dark humor. #TheWildRobot
Continues from the first as a misguided, mean spirited movie without much of value to actually offer, but this time they added musical numbers that add nothing to the plodding, meandering proceedings. #JokerFolieADeux
A heartbreaking, heartwarming, emotionally resonant relationship drama with powerful performances from its leads and a story that is bolstered by its non-linear telling. #WeLiveInTime
The humor is occasionally a little juvenile, but otherwise it's a solid kids action flick with fun visuals and action, even if the Megatron heel turn could have used a bit more depth. #TransformersOne
It has a ton of energy, is frequently extremely funny, and has great performances, though it's narrator be is a bit too scattered without really concluding many elements, and the conclusion felt perfunctory and rushed. #SaturdayNight
An excellent thriller that spends its first 2/3 being a clash of personalities that is alternatively uncomfortable and darkly funny, only to turn into a tense standoff that has you holding your breath for most of it. #SpeakNoEvil
It's got the same bizarre, chaotic energy as the first, with an utter contempt for story structure or focus, but it somehow works, updating the older charm to a more frenetic pace. #BeetlejuiceBeetlejuice
A solid slow-burn psychological thriller that dives into the mental and physical degradation from isolation, it is at times too slow while repeating beats, but ultimately is effective at sowing distrust and unease. #Slingshot
The first true successor to the Peele style thriller, it's got a thoroughly charismatic lead, some genuinely funny moments alongside its harrowing elements, and outside of a sound design that gets a little silly, it's an excellently constructed and executed thriller. #BlinkTwice
Willa Fitzgerald is giving 110% in a role that requires a lot already, though despite an interesting concept the film gets in its own way with excessive distracting stylistic choices and a construction that gives away its twist by its very nature. #StrangeDarling
Continues the trend of soulless, unnecessary remakes of offbeat classics (a la Robocop and Total Recall) featuring mediocre performances, action, cinematography, and some bizarre needle drops, but more than anything it's just dull. #TheCrow
It has one callback element that doesn't work and some of the character dialogue is a tad teen slasher, but those are minor issues in the face of the intensity and terror brought to bear as it takes its place in the upper echelons of the franchise. #AlienRomulus
