In life we all strive to win at something. Maybe you're obsessed with reaching the pinnacle of your career, or bagging the baddest girl, or proving you're more intelligent than your peers. Let the only thing you win at be Christ's work in you. Let all else be counted as loss.
This devotional on the You version Bible betrays a postmodern ethic. "Sins" are anything keeping you from achieving self actualization.
In this scenario the dad does nothing at all to display strength or leadership. He does very little to show love and commitment. And he does a lot to look needy. A present father is better than an absent father, but a good father is physically present, and not divorced.
Need opinions. Here's the scenario: Parents divorce, dad moves out of state. He texts his middle- and high-school kids once a week and visits once a month. Is that enough? Will it be enough for them long term? Is less OK, or should he be doing more?

Here's my suggestion to @JoelWebbonafter his debate with @RuslanKD: Don't be like Candace, who felt justified because of online pushback, and then doubled down. Stop being defensive and sloppy in your positions and speech. Rise up to the level of Ruslan, follow his example.

@Ameen_HGA The interesting thing is that 80s sounds are making a huge comeback right now. The Weeknd is just one example of this. Why? Because the people making music now are in your generation. The nostalgia drives the cycle.

This is an interesting thought. Christian tradition is certainly heavily influenced by Roman law and Aristotelian metaphysics.
I cringe every time I hear the term "Judeo-Christian." On what basis is the Western moral system Judeo-Christian and not Roman-Christian or (probably more accurately) Aristotelean-Christian?
@Ameen_HGA Many are not Christians. Many are not married. Many have wives that don't know about their internet ravings.
If you became a Christian today, what would you repent of? To God? To others?
@Ameen_HGA Ameen, this is what Nietzsche understood Christians to be. Kind and gentle on the outside, but on the inside fueled by "ressentiment" - which is at its core violent. It's sad, but hopefully helpful when trying to figure out what Christianity is distinctly NOT.
