@Sorare, and @ni2las in particular, should be praised not criticised for what SD do well. There may be a day when Sorare see SD as a competitor but, for the past 2 years, it has been a symbiotic and healthy relationship. The VERY early adopters know 👀
The new Lobby addresses the needs of 80% of the userbase (users owning fewer than 25 cards). Going after the remaining 20% right now may not be the best use of resources, in particular if third-party developers (who can play unlike Sorare employees) can do it reasonably well
On the other hand, SD still rely on external funding to finance operations. Sorare have been instrumental to SD’s development, not only because SD would not even exist without Sorare, but because they have been an anchor investor in SD’s initial funding round.
This is a much more realistic and honest view of this space. It’s also good advice for anybody new to NFTs or anybody feeling like they “missed” a free mint or cheap entry. A lot of the success you see comes from being at the right place at the right time with sufficient liquid.
People forget everything is a gamble here. You can make calculated decisions based off different factors when you are gambling on NFTs… but don’t mistake it, any of these new mints can go to 0. I like to play risky so this has been my approach, but it’s not for everyone.
