Why is the Scottish Government asking schools to promote and affirm contested ideas around gender identity and social transition? Teachers are not clinicians, parents should not be sidelined, and children deserve evidence led support rather than ideological certainty. Who is this really protecting?
The concern for children’s safety would be more convincing if it applied consistently. Governments cannot claim to protect young people from harmful online content while allowing contested, explicit or ideological material into classrooms with limited parental oversight. Parents are right to ask who gets to shape children’s values.
