.@Miles4Lothian is looking to hear your views on whether everyone in Scotland with a terminal illness should have a legal right to palliative care. His consultation opens today and runs until 4 June 2024. Read the consultation and share your views: ow.ly/CGMs50QNmoo
@ScotParl @Miles4Lothian Very pleased to see that this is happening, and I hope it goes through this time. Unfortunately the majority of Scots get little or no palliative care or in a place of their choosing, Scots have a legal right to help during birth, but not death.
@ScotParl @Miles4Lothian I went to a talk at our church last night. Our priest said humans should have dignity from conception to death. There is a conference in Clydebank about assisted dying next week.
@ScotParl @LucyHunterB @Miles4Lothian Listening now to the “doctor” who opposes this bill and wondering WTF happened to Scotland ? how could anyone with a conscience oppose the public will on assisted dying?
@ScotParl @Miles4Lothian Sounds brilliant. Are the @ScotTories promising to fund it fully?
@ScotParl @Miles4Lothian There is already a 'right' to palliative care in Scotland. nhs.uk/conditions/end… "Palliative care focuses on providing relief from pain & other symptoms. Palliative care is not assisted dying. You do not get a choice to end the suffering that palliative care combats.
@ScotParl @Miles4Lothian Very pleased to see this consultation, but we were promised this in 2015 - why have we had to wait so long? It is long over due and the lack of #PalliativeCare has opened the door to @Liam4Orkney and his Bill on Medicalised Killing - sorry "assisted dying"
@ScotParl @Miles4Lothian Yes 100%. I don't care if you are a Tory and you've blocked me on Twitter 🤣 Palliative care should be a right to all. I've had family go through this process, so I support this totally.
