The councillor in charge of adult social care @SouthamptonCC has told @BBCRadioSolent she's hoping to reopen the Kentish Road respite centre for adults with learning disabilities by July this year. @RespiteRefugees
Back at @hantsconnect today as the Health & Adult Social Care Committee hear the call in proposal for the recent decision to delay the proposal 7 months. Many carers not attending after being refused access to the meeting . #SaveOrchardClose

Parent carers after decision made to delay deciding future of #OrchardClose on #HaylingIsland - a respite home for adults with learning disabilities. Cllr Liz Fairhurst says they want to explore different funding options but the carers say the delay creates anxiety.

@BBCRadio2 @KatiePrice As unpaid carers we save local authorities £millions but support services are poor & being cut further. If carers were properly supported it would help care user gain independence but remain within their family & carers continue in that role saving money. Need to invest to save.
We collectively need to make sure that parents who don’t happen to be *actually studying public law* are able to enforce their family’s rights...#SEND

@StrongCoffee4me @stevee_ed No but appreciate offer. We've already done crowd fund to employ barrister & following initial legal advice got legal aid application accepted. If there becomes opportunity to take the charitable trust off of council & run ourselves we may need to. Until then thanks anyway!
