Today, when Umar Khalid withdrew his bail plea, he stood on behalf of thousands of other Indians in voting no-confidence in the judges hearing his case and in the Supreme Court. Tomorrow, yet again, the judges are on trial when they pronounce the electoral bond judgement. “This is murder of democracy,” the Chief Justice of India had said recently. “We will not let this happen,” he “thundered”. Tomorrow is his test.
