Telltale sign that this handle has never read any books, above that of HS level. Without pirated copies, second hand copies(god knows which college st he stans where they sell only pirated books-probably the nagpur one) it is impossible for to get all books even bachelor level.

I'm a nationalist. I care for my country. For its image. It pains to see Indians, especially abroad, breaking civic rules, creating nuisance and being in denial over it. Being self-critical, at least self aware, is an essential part of self improvement. And that includes acknowledging unsavoury truths. If pointing out the problem in littering, being loud, cutting queues, pocketing breakfast items, not respecting local sensibilities riles you up, maybe you should go easy on the arrogance.

I'm afraid @virsanghvi is bang on the money on this one. In my infrequent visits abroad, I have literally wished at times that the floor splits into two and I vanish. 2010, New Delhi, I was driving home late one night around 1 AM after a family gathering. I stopped at a red traffic light in Green Park. There were no other vehicles around, just our car. Suddenly, a BMW pulled up behind us and started honking aggressively, demanding that we drive through the red light. I pointed to the signal and stayed put. The driver got out, dressed in a suit, hurled abuses at me, and ordered me to move. When I refused, and picked up my phone, he banged on my window. Eventually he backed off, got back in his car, and sped away by cutting across in front of me. I drove off when the signal turned green. This is the reality of India, even today: owning a big car, a big house, or having formal education is no guarantee of basic civility, class, or moral character. This was just one of many road rage incidents in New Delhi/NCR, I experienced before I finally decided to pack my bags and leave the country. A truly civilized society is one where people follow the law even when no one is watching, and do what is right without needing supervision. When I moved to Singapore, this is exactly what I saw, people naturally did the right thing. The same held true when I later moved to Europe. Regarding the recent dancing incident at the airport, many people defended it by saying, “The authorities didn’t have a problem, so why do you?” That’s exactly where they miss the point. You never know who is sitting on the same flight, someone mourning the loss of a loved one, a person who just received a cancer diagnosis, a parent who lost a child, or someone who just lost their job. When you show such insensitivity in shared public spaces and don’t care about other people’s emotional state, that’s where a society fails. People often abuse me for raising these issues and quickly brush them aside by saying, “Every country has problems.” That’s true, every country does have its issues. But the scale is vastly different. Other countries have 99% civility and 1% assholes. In India, it feels like 99% assholes and 1% civility. Yes, I agree that no country is perfect, but the proportions make all the difference. To those who defend such behavior and treat every public place like their personal living room: fuck off.

এইজন্যে দিলীপ ঘোষ লোকটাকে আমি এত্ত শ্রদ্ধা করি। এক ঝটকায় উনি যে বিজেপি-আরএসএস ইকোসিস্টেমের জনদরদী মুখোশ আর ধার্মিক ‘চাড্ডি’পনা একসাথে খুলে এদেরকে ‘ন্যাংটা’ করে দেওয়ার ক্ষমতা রাখেন, সেটা আগে একবার টিভি চ্যানেলে বসে বলেওছিলেন, আর গতকাল হাতে কলমে খুলে ‘ন্যাংটা’ করে দেখিয়েও দিলেন। এমনটা আলিমুদ্দিনের ক্যাপ্টেন-ভাইস ক্যাপ্টেনরাও পারবেন না।   উনি বুক ঠুকে জানিয়ে দিলেন হকার উচ্ছেদের নামে লক্ষ লক্ষ গরিব মানুষের পেটে লাথি মেরে রাস্তাঘাট-ফুটপাথ ফাঁকা করে দেওয়া হচ্ছে কারণ যাতে সেই রাস্তায় ধনী পরিবারের নতুন প্রজন্ম ৫০ লাখ টাকার ১৮০০ সিসি ক্ষমতার ‘সুপারবাইক’ ছোটাতে পারে। এটাকেই বলে ‘এফিসিয়েন্সি’ বা ‘গতি’। বার্তা স্পষ্ট, আপনি সেই ‘এফিসিয়েন্সি’ বা ‘গতি’ তে পা মেলাতে পারলে ভালো, নাহলে ফুটুন, বুলডোজার আসছে। এখানে ধনী লিখলাম কারণ ৫০ লাখ টাকা দিয়ে ‘সুপারবাইক’ কেনার ক্ষমতা একমাত্র তাদেরই আছে।   এবার বোঝা যাচ্ছে কি এটা আম জনতা নয়, এটা বড়লোকদের সরকার! এটা ভারতীয় জনতা পার্টির নয়, এটা ‘বড়লোক জনতা পার্টি’র সরকার! গরিব হলেই আপনি বাদ। সে আপনি হিন্দু হলেও বাদ। আপনাকে তখন ভাতা পেতে ১২ পাতার ফর্ম তুলতে এবং তা পূরণ করে জমা দিতে ঝড়-জল-রোদে হাজার হাজার মানুষের সাথে লাইনে দাঁড়াতে হবে। তারপরেও আপনি অন্নপুর্ণা ভান্ডারের টাকা পাবেন কি না তার কোন নিশ্চয়তা নেই। অন্তত বিজেপি সরকারের ‘মহিলা মুখ’ সেরকমই বলছেন। কিন্তু ভেবে দেখুন সুপারবাইক চালানোর জন্যে ফাঁকা রাস্তা পাওয়ার দাবি জানাতে ধনীদের কে কি কোন লাইনে দাঁড় করিয়েছে এই সরকার ? স্পষ্ট উত্তর না। তারা ঘরে বসেই পেয়ে গেলেন ‘সুপারবাইক’ চালানোর আদর্শ ফাঁকা রাস্তা-ফুটপাথ। এমনকি ‘কেএফসি’ বা ‘ওয়াও মোমো’র বিপণী খোলার জন্যে ফাঁকা প্ল্যাটফর্ম এবং সেখানে যাতায়াত করা লক্ষ লক্ষ যাত্রীকে মাল বেচার একচেটিয়া অধিকারটাও এরা পেয়ে গেলেন ঘরে বসেই, কোন ফর্ম পূরণ না করেই বা কোন লাইনে না দাঁড়িয়েই! কারণ সরকারটা ওদের। গরিব মধ্য ও নিম্নবিত্ত মানুষ, তা সে মানুষ হিন্দু হলেও, আসলে আরশোলা,প্যারাসাইট.... এদেরকে বুলডোজারের তলায় পিষে দেওয়াটাই দস্তুর। অতএব বুলডোজার চলবে। সাথে চলবে বড়লোকদের দালালি আর মাতব্বরিটাও।   পুনশ্চঃ আরও দুঃখের যেটা সেটা হলো আমার কমেন্ট বক্সে এবার যেসমস্ত ‘চাড্ডিসেল’ বাহিনী ঝাঁপাবে, তারাও কেউ ‘বড়লোক জনতা পার্টি’র সংজ্ঞা অনুযায়ী ‘বড়লোক’ নয়। কারণ সেই বড়লোকরা সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ায় এর ওর কমেন্ট বক্সে ঘুরঘুর করে সময় নষ্ট করে না। তারা সর্বদা সরকারি মদতে টাকা লুঠতে ও গুনতে ব্যস্ত থাকে।

Funnily this is opposite to what normally is expected in US, for example, where the northsides are more posh, compared to the southside. The reputation of Chicago southside is probably worldwide now due to the tv series based there.
