As we celebrate this Fourth of July weekend, I'm reminded that what makes America special isn't just our history, it's our people. Here in Ocean County, we are blessed to live in communities where neighbors look out for one another, families gather to create lasting memories, and we never lose sight of the values that unite us: freedom, service, sacrifice, and hope.
Last night's Stars & Stripes Spectacular was a beautiful reminder of those values. Seeing families gathered together, patriotic music filling the air, and the drone show lighting up the night sky was more than entertainment it was a celebration of who we are and what we share as Americans.
As we begin the celebration of America's 250th anniversary, may we take a moment to honor those who came before us, express gratitude to the brave men and women who continue to protect our freedoms, and recommit ourselves to building strong, caring communities for the next generation.
From my family to yours, I wish you a happy, healthy, and safe Fourth of July weekend. Enjoy the time with those you love, celebrate responsibly, and take pride in calling Ocean County home.
Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸🎇

Really meaningful morning at @HarborHouseNJ “A Walk In Their Shoes” event in Seaside Park. This event brings awareness to youth homelessness and supports programs that provide housing, stability, and a path forward for young people in crisis. Grateful to stand with everyone working to make a difference.

Today we celebrated the retirement of a valued member of our Purchasing Department. Her dedication and behind the scenes work have helped keep Ocean County running smoothly for many years.
Congratulations on a well earned retirement. Thank you for your service and best wishes in this exciting new chapter.
Happy retirement, Sherri!
Stopped by the @OceanCounty911 Office of Emergency Management today. Even with the storm ongoing, this team is doing a fantastic job coordinating emergency response, staying on top of the situation, and keeping our communities safe.
Ocean County is lucky to have such a great team. From our fire and EMS coordinators to our CERT Team, Road Department, and Sheriff’s Department, everyone is working together seamlessly with professionalism and around the clock dedication to keep our residents safe during moments like these.

Really appreciated the opportunity to stop by the @OceanCounty911 Communications Center and spend time with the incredible team behind the scenes.
The men and women who answer and dispatch every 911 call across our county are truly exceptional. They are calm under pressure, detail-oriented, and incredibly patient in moments when every second counts.
Their work often goes unseen, but it is absolutely critical to keeping our residents safe. We are grateful for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to serving Ocean County each and every day.
Thank you for everything you do!
We had boots on the ground in Barnegat Light this morning after a whale washed ashore along the coastline. Being there allowed us to see the situation firsthand, learn more about what happens when incidents like this occur, and better understand the important work that goes into protecting both our community and our shoreline. I appreciate Marine Mammal Stranding Center and all the professionals who worked to manage the response with care and professionalism.

Proud to see our students stepping up once again to help fix the broken pipes at Toms River High School South. There is something special about young people using their skills to solve real problems and give back to their own school community.
Programs like this show the true value of hands on learning, teamwork, and leadership. These students are not just learning a trade, they are building confidence, responsibility, and pride in their work.
A big thank you to the students and their instructors for turning a challenge into an opportunity. This is what community is all about.

I'm saddened to hear of the passing of K9 Gertrude.
For six years, she served the residents of Ocean County with extraordinary skill and dedication, helping bring families answers and hope during some of their most difficult moments. Her work alongside the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office is a reminder that service comes in many forms, even four legged ones.
After retirement, she was blessed with a loving home, and that is a testament to the strong bond between our public safety community and those who serve.
Thank you, Gertrude, for your loyalty, your courage, and your years of faithful service.
Rest easy, sweet girl.

I am proud to join our Ocean County team in showing our support for heart health awareness on National Wear Red Day. Heart disease affects so many families across our community, and raising awareness is an important step toward prevention and saving lives.
Together, we remain committed to promoting healthier lives across Ocean County and throughout the month of February. ❤️
Commissioner Gormley and I had the opportunity to visit the Ocean County Corrections Facility and tour the jail, and I want to sincerely thank the dedicated men and women who serve there each day. Their professionalism, commitment, and care are essential to maintaining safety, accountability, and respect within the facility and throughout our community.
I also want to recognize the strong leadership of the Warden, whose guidance sets the tone for teamwork, high standards, and effective operations. It was clear during our visit how much pride the entire staff takes in their work, and Ocean County is fortunate to have such a dedicated corrections team.
