The TWU’s Contract language for American Airlines mechanics guarantees thousands more maintenance jobs than AMFA’s new agreement with Southwest. Trust the TWU to secure your job. Not AMFA.
AMFA’s leaders are talking out of both sides of their mouths. You can’t trust a union that brags about its support for insourcing work while cutting a deal with Southwest to outsource more work. It’s downright hypocritical.
Are you willing to put your job security on the line for the possibility of a small wage increase? Don’t take AMFA’s new agreement with Southwest at face value. AMFA has proven they are willing to outsource more work to countries like El Salvador.
Under AMFA’s new agreement with Southwest, your job could be at risk. The aircraft-to-mechanic ratio in the agreement is LOWER than the current average ratio on your aircraft. If the same type of agreement was applied to American, only 3,000 mechanic jobs would be protected.
4 months ago, AMFA was boasting about bringing jobs back to the U.S. Now, AMFA's new agreement with SWA allows 25% more work to go to countries like El Salvador. So much for “Protecting the craft.” The TWU is the ONLY airline union that has successfully rolled back outsourcing.

The mechanic-to-aircraft ratio in AMFA’s new agreement with Southwest would require NO additional insourcing of work. This ratio is not an improvement because the current average ratio of mechanics to aircraft is already above 3. You deserve a better agreement.
4 months ago, AMFA bragged about efforts to bring jobs back to the U.S. Now, AMFA’s new agreement with SWA is trading away work for wages you may never see. They're increasing the number of outsourced heavy maintenance lines in countries like El Salvador from 8 to 10.

TWU Aircraft Maintenance Presidents went to Capitol Hill this week to press for congressional support for the Global Aircraft Maintenance Standards Act. The TWU and our Local Unions are determined to keep these jobs on USA soil.
AMFA misled workers by telling them that they could sit in on negotiations with Spirit. ❌Don’t stand for more of AMFA’s broken promises. The TWU has 85+ years of experience winning contracts for workers–and unlike AMFA, we stick to our word.
AMFA had more than two decades to negotiate a contract that protects you from subcontracting and outsourcing, but they failed. You deserve to be represented by the TWU, the only airline union that has successfully rolled back outsourcing.
