"سمكس" مشاركة في اجتماع "اللجنة الوزارية لترشيد استخدام الأطفال للإنترنت" شاركت منظمة "سمكس" بصفتخا عضواً باللجنة الوزارية المشتركة المُكلفة إعداد الخطة الوطنية الشاملة لترشيد استخدام الأطفال للإنترنت وتطبيقاته، في الاجتماع الأوّل للجنة. وتناول الاجتماع عرض أهداف اللجنة وآلية عملها، والإطار العام لإعداد الخطة الوطنية، بدعوة من وزارة الإعلام اللبنانية. وأشار المتحدّث في الاجتماع، عبد قطايا من "سمكس" إلى أنه "يجب تعزيز إجراءات حماية سلامة الأطفال على الإنترنت دون وضع حظر شامل، وذلك بسبب المخاوف التي تتعلق بانتهاك الخصوصية، تقييد الحقوق الأساسية، وصعوبة التنفيذ العملي". وأكّد إلى أن "الحل الأمثل يكمن في التمكين الرقمي بدلاً من معاقبة المستخدمين وعزلهم". وكانت نقاشات الحاضرين والحاضرات مثمرة وغنيّة بالأفكار والمقترحات، حتّى أنّ بعض المؤسسات بدأت بالفعل بمثل هذه المجهودات، مما يتطلّب التنسيق بين مختلف أصحاب المصلحة المتعدّدين. وفي السياق، تؤكد "سمكس" أنّها تواصل جهودها في العمل على سياسات رقمية تضع حقوق الإنسان أوّلا، كذلك السعي لحماية الاطفال عبر الانترنت من دون المساس بحقوقهم الرقمية، بما يضمن حقّهم بالخصوصية والوصول إلى المعلومات والمشاركة الآمنة عبر الإنترنت.

AI chatbots are Large Language Models (LLMs), which means that they are trained using the information you give them. A picture of your face may carry much more information than you expect because your features are analyzed, studied, and can be used to train the chatbot. Social media trends using AI can be creative and entertaining, but they also normalize giving away personal data, including our visual features, without a second thought. As these tools become more powerful, digital literacy means understanding the trade-offs behind every upload. One woman journalist had to rely on personal contacts inside Meta just to get abusive content reviewed. That shouldn't be how online safety works. In just the first half of 2026, SMEX's Digital Safety Helpdesk handled 106 cases targeting women. In its first-ever decision on disabled accounts, the Oversight Board upheld Meta's enforcement action, but delivered a much bigger message: platforms need greater transparency, stronger due process, and fairer appeals when restricting accounts. The decision echoes the recommendations SMEX has long advocated for in multiple submissions to the OSB. We argue that this decision is more than a ruling on one account, it's a roadmap for how Meta and other platforms can better protect users while respecting human rights.
