The #Starship Orbital Launch Mount features many moving parts. While this adds complexity to the mount, it is a tradeoff #SpaceX engineers chose to simplify the #SuperHeavy booster and reduce mass. This updated animation showcases some of the actions the OLM can perform.

Here is an animation of all 20 support arms on the #Starship Orbital Launch Mount actuating. Before launch, these arms hold the #SuperHeavy booster and transfer the weight into the surrounding steel structure. I have removed the steel structure for a unique perspective.

While updating my #Starship #Mechazilla launch tower models, I tried to reverse-engineer many of the hydraulic systems so they could be modeled as accurately as possible. It's surprising how relatively simple the hydraulics are when you understand how they are controlled.
