On this day a decade ago WHO South-East Asia Region was certified polio-free, a remarkable public health achievement in recent decades. Congratulations to all Member countries for their continued efforts to ensure the Region remains polio-free till polio is eradicated globally.

Throughout the meeting, Member States and partners acknowledged that we are indeed in the last mile. However, sustaining these hard-earned gains relies on sustained national commitment and innovative efforts to reach zero-dose children with polio and other vaccines. 8/9

Pakistan’s Secretary of Health @Shallwani underlined the Government of Pakistan’s commitment to polio eradication. He underscored strong cross-border collaboration between #AFG and #PAK and tremendous progress made in #AFG and #PAK, where cases are down to single digits. 6/9
The Subcommittee recognized commitment from the highest political offices in #Somalia and their strong support in the implementation of the Somalia Emergency Action Plan I & II to stop the longest running variant poliovirus outbreak in the Region. 4/9
