When I was 13, I told my mother I liked a boy at school. She forbade me from speaking about it ever again. When I was 15, I told my Dad I was gay. His exact words, “I knew I was raising boys to become brave men & I love you no matter what.” ☺️ My Dad loved me no matter what! ❤️
Both of my parents are as dead as Jesus. Dead, dead, dead, dead, dead. Totally dead. 💀
@RoryOCleary So happy to hear that Rory, but I'm sorry about your Mom.....did she every come around to acceptance?
@RoryOCleary That's awesome! I hate to ask this, but do you think your experience with the priests had anything to do with it?
@RoryOCleary Your Dad sounds awesome. My Dad was a sheriff and fireman. I was so afraid to tell him. But after my partner died tragically on Christmas 97 I had to. He'd missed this huge moment. When I sat down & told him I was gay, he said "I always knew I had a gay son." ❤️❤️
@RoryOCleary Did your mom eventually come around?
@RoryOCleary I told my son that there was NOTHING he could not come to me to talk about. I would not have wanted him to carry any burden on his own. Sharing is caring. I'm sorry your mom didn't take it well. Can you forgive her, for your own sake?
