The diagnosis of autism remains in place up until the moment an autistic person commits a very serious offence when it suddenly becomes personality disorder. I don't make the rules.

@RonBollard1966 A good point! Why would you call a group subclinical yet still use that psychometric for diagnosis? I never caught that! I will say though, that an ASD diagnosis relies on challenges/deficits; so it’s possible to be subclinical in deficits yet still have an autistic neurotype.
@RonBollard1966 But to answer your question in a different way, the need for diagnosis is quite personal. There are various reasons why one may or may not feel a diagnosis will benefit them.
@RonBollard1966 Also, a diagnosis doesn’t rely on a single psychometric. It’s possible to score subclinically on one or a few psychometrics but not on others.
@JonGlue There are always going to be things that could be improved upon but just look at the mess now. Separating clinicians from the major decisions has been massively damaging. That also implies managers are more professional and courteous which is certainly not always the case

Critics of the methodology of the systematic reviews that form the basis of the Cass Review are displaying their limited understanding of research methods and evidence based medicine — but that’s what got us into this mess in the first place

@AmyLCAustin The author is a PHD who specialises in trans inclusion and Applied Trans Studies who published this prior to the publication of the Cass Review. Is this, honestly, the best you could come up with? A partisan non-medic criticising a medical review he hadn't seen?
@AmyLCAustin This is an independent review by an eminent pediatrician and a university research team exposing poor services and inadequate care given to children. I would hope that if you want to protect kids, you want them to receive good care.
