"The combination of this 'man in isolation' in the midst of this beautiful spot had a certain appeal. It could be made into an island - with its long beach - or a village... by virtue of its architecture so mixed you wouldn't know where it was." Portmeirion, a co-lead character?
@RodneyMarshall1 Apparently the sand has shifted too much to easily get on the beach now
@RodneyMarshall1 I took my partner there whilst on holiday in Wales a few years back. I had told her nothing about it before we arrived, and it freaked her out! She told me she was expecting to see a quaint old, well preserved mining village. 🤣
@RodneyMarshall1 Prior to The Prisoner, almost no one had heard of William Clough-Ellis and Portmeirion!
@RodneyMarshall1 Spent a few days at Portmeirion with my late wife on our honeymoon, (we were both huge Prisoner fans), it is an amazing place. My wife always said it was the most beautiful place on the planet. I tend to agree.
@RodneyMarshall1 Like Sir Clough, I think Portmeirion might have been the star of the show!
@RodneyMarshall1 A wonderful little documentary from the wonderfully big BBC Archive.... youtube.com/watch?v=MUufnX…
@RodneyMarshall1 Absolutely. It’s the timeless appeal of this strange place, that is as much a lead as Patrick.
@RodneyMarshall1 100% a character in the series, and I love how the credit of this most important co-star is delayed until the final episode. As profound a reveal that this is a real place, as the reveal of Number One...
