@Worldchampsx2 I watch a lot of chess documentaries on YT but I don’t know the first thing about chess and I’ve never played or even contemplated learning, I just find it a very noble pastime. Even sat in a chess cafe in New York once for 4 hours just watching. Didn’t understand any of it.

@walla81 I think in the championship that is probably sensible but the whole point of the play-offs was to reinvigorate the game financially as crowds were low and clubs were skint as football was on its knees, I assume it was keep people invested …

I wish we could dispel the myth that the play off game is worth £200M. The money leaves the club (and more) in wages, agent fees and transfer fees and if anything the club that is promoted is arguably in a more perilous financial position than they were in the championship.

You only need to look at the financial instability of many clubs who don’t make the PL work and chase the dream. If it wasn’t for the Coates family writing loans off and subsidising the club SCFC would be insolvent and would be playing in the PDSL.
