Norway’s $1.6tn sovereign wealth fund is the latest big investor to explore adding private equity to its mandate. That's a good excuse for a (very) chunky investigation into private equity's investment case. Let me know what you think. ft.com/content/55837d…
@RobinWigg Fantastic article - very balanced and looks at the PE question from all of the appropriate angles. Chapeau
@RobinWigg And go the same way as the Alberta Oil Fund who went this way years ago? 🤦🏻 Don’t do it Nicolai!
@RobinWigg Given he’s had both Blackstone and Brookfield’s CEO’s on his podcast, he’s certainly trying to build his case! Would be interested how they marry NSWF strict ESG objectives with PE. Arguably should potentially be more straightforward..but
@RobinWigg Incredible article - even more so.to go against the tide and suggesting PE is not always the best choice
@RobinWigg I think the word count classifies this as "OH LAWD, HE COMIN'" territory
@RobinWigg Good article exploring pros and cons. I am in the camp that PE performs like levered public equity, with an additional feature: default only impacts one company not the whole portfolio. Pass on PE, use permanent capital instead to build a home for private cos a la Berkshire.
