For the record, I think Arnold and Rakestraw both were great values and have bright futures in Detroit. I wasn’t even opposed to the idea of double-dipping at DB going into the draft of the value was there. What I’m frustrated with is giving up draft picks to do so.
So Detroit was scheduled to have four picks in the first three rounds, and they threw them ALL at one position. That’s… interesting…
I really like the idea of trading out of the first round and then hitting what I think will be a great second round class of wide receivers and cornerbacks. I would like to add a player on the defensive line in the third round, and then I think on day three we can add OL depth.
To me this feels like what Brad Holmes is hoping for, though a receiver may get thrown in somewhere. The more I think about the draft the more I love the Day 2 corner group. No need to force CB on Day 1, where I’d go DL like Newton or WR. OL feels deep enough to wait on too.
