Prostitution should be legal because human freedom is a thing. That’s all. One shouldn’t have to use science to justify people doing what they want with their own lives. Are the effects good or bad? I don’t care. I wouldn’t be for enslaving people if you showed it helped them.

@RichardHanania “The health and well-being of my community plays no part in my life and doesn’t concern me at all”
@RichardHanania This isn't the proper way to frame the issue. There are a tremendous amount of negative externalities that come along with prostitution. Your analysis is a little too overly simplified.
@RichardHanania There is such a thing as too much freedom, Carl. I know people mock Bush Jr. for saying that, but it's true. Some freedoms are exchanged for a more civilized, functional, and healthy society. I doubt even you'd deny this. The question is only where we draw the line.
@RichardHanania When legalized, employers can offer work to individuals on public assistance. Refusing such a job offer could lead to lose of benefits.
@RichardHanania Even if you take that line, surely it makes sense for libertarians to focus on issues where deregulation will do good rather than bad! If we deregulate in areas when outcomes of deregulation are bad, it will turn people against freedom.
@RichardHanania Ironically, those who end up working in those types of occupations, seem to be the least free in some sense, whether it's their psychological inclinations, shared & non-shared environments or addictions.
@RichardHanania Vices are not crimes.
