First, his interpreter said Ohtani bailed him out of his gambling debts. Then, Ohtani said his interpreter ripped him off. When exactly did the story change? And why isn’t Ohtani’s camp saying if they have pressed charges? Must-see chat with @TishaESPN today.
@RichEisenShow @TishaESPN I don't really get why Ohtani's camp saying whether they've pressed charges matters...first, it's only been 3 days since Ohtani's statement. These things take time. Second, charges aren't unilateral. You bring them to pros, then you wait. Wat good would "YES GO CALL FBI?" do us??
@RichEisenShow @TishaESPN The difference between Pete Rose and Shohei Ohtani is Shohei had an interpreter to pin things on. If Pete had an interpreter he'd be in the Hall of Fame. I'm sure MLB will sweep this under the rug with a half-assed, at best, investigation
@richeisenShow @richeisen @TishaESPN Come on, @TishaESPN! Why wouldn't you EMPHASIZE that the game you were referring to, where Ippei and Shohei were laughing, happened before they had the meeting? The meeting occurred after that game. Stop stirring things up!
@RichEisenShow @TishaESPN Baffles me why so many Japanese players just refuse to learn English. Or even just universal Baseball English. Give me 7 years in Japan I would make an effort to at least speak a bit of it
@richeisenShow @richeisen @TishaESPN One more thing, Rich - I respect you, and I really enjoy listening to you, but Shohei is naive and completely relied on Ippei. Regarding the code you mentioned, it's possible that Ippei had access to Shohei's phone and email, then deleted the confirmation code after inputting it.
