One point I haven't seen emphasized about the budget deal is that as far as I can tell, it's not going to involve a major hit to the safety net for children. The new SNAP work requirements are cruel, but they apply to childless adults in their 50s 1/
@paulkrugman Where are the work requirements for Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, big pharma, bIg oil, defense contractor execs, etc. They take in billions of tax dollars each year with no strings attached.
@Resist1969 @paulkrugman It kills me how the left pretends that paying less taxes is equal to receiving government subsidies
@Resist1969 @paulkrugman "In total, Musk spent $142.6 million to purchase shares worth $23.6 billion, giving him $23.5 billion in in taxable income, taxable for 2021 at a federal rate of about 41%."....you were saying??
@Resist1969 @paulkrugman Known as free enterprise or capitalism. The problem is our tax laws favor the rich and corporations now. The GOP in power always enacts laws to favor this segment of our society. Solution elect majority of DEMS who can override and put in fair tax.
@Resist1969 @paulkrugman Biden wants to stop that for many that you mentioned. Pharma & gas/oil specifically. It’s in this budget. Something that GOP have yet to produce.
@Resist1969 @paulkrugman And they take advantage of the use of the infrastructure that the rest of us paid for & built.
@Resist1969 @paulkrugman Or the useless republicans in congress who go on photo op field trips on the government dime
@Resist1969 @paulkrugman The top 10 percent pay most of the state and federal taxes. Bottom 30 percent pay almost nothing.
