Today, I toured Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site in Otero County with the La Junta Chamber of Commerce and elected officials. We had productive discussions on needed repairs, preservation, and strengthening its economic impact on the La Junta area. Investing in this important Southeast Colorado historic site preserves our heritage while supporting local communities and tourism. #TyHD47

Today, I had the honor of speaking at our Annual Memorial Day Commemoration. Memorial Day isn't about cookouts or a long weekend. It's about the Americans who gave their lives so the rest of us can live free. Today asks something more of us. It asks us to stop, reflect, and remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for this country.

Today, we took time to honor the brave Americans who served and sacrificed for our country by placing flags at the graves of our veterans. It's a powerful reminder that the freedoms we enjoy each day were defended by men and women willing to give so much for this nation. May we always remember their service, sacrifice, and legacy. 🇺🇸

I was honored to attend the 3rd Annual Las Animas County Veterans Round Table. We had meaningful discussions on increasing resource awareness, building stronger connections, and addressing veterans’ needs across our region. Our veterans deserve more than gratitude, they deserve our continued support. Thank you to everyone who made the event possible! 🇺🇸

Today I had a great time participating in the 30th Annual Lamar Days Parade and festivities. Thank you to everyone in Lamar for the warm welcome and the great conversations. Events like this are a great reminder of what makes Southeast Colorado so special. #TyHD47

Colorado deserves leaders who stay focused on Colorado values and Colorado families. This session, we fought to protect affordability, defend TABOR, support small businesses, stand up for agriculture, and keep our part of Colorado strong. While some were focused on national political fights, we stayed focused on the people back home trying to afford groceries, keep the lights on, grow their businesses, and provide for their families. From one corner of HD-47 to the other, I'll keep fighting for the agricultural producers, businesses, and hardworking families that keep Colorado moving forward.

Before leaving the Capitol today, I had the chance to meet with the students, teachers, parents, and staff from Alta Vista Charter School who made the drive from Lamar for a field trip. It was great seeing the excitement on the children’s faces as they toured the People’s House.

Today marks the end of the 2026 legislative session. While there’s still a lot of work ahead to address Colorado’s structural deficit and the everyday challenges families across our state are facing, I’m proud of the work we accomplished fighting for the people of House District 47. This session, we fought for agriculture, advanced commonsense health care legislation, worked to get violent criminals off our streets, stood up for rural Colorado, and pushed back against policies hurting hardworking families and small businesses. Serving the people of southeastern Colorado is truly the honor of a lifetime, and I’ll keep fighting every day for our communities and the values that make our part of the state strong.

Today, I spoke in support of protecting private property rights and ensuring rural Colorado has a real seat at the table when major energy and land use decisions are being made. House District 47 deserves to be heard.

Today I had the honor of recognizing the life of Jess Gibson on the House floor. A Green Beret, combat medic, Colorado State Patrol Captain, outdoorsman, husband, father, grandfather, and true public servant. Colorado is better because of his lifetime of service.

Today in Committee, @RepTyWinter passed SB26-045! This bill will create a new council in the Colorado School of Mines and a related grant program to support education and training for the expanding nuclear energy sector.

Colorado's budget problems didn't happen overnight. For years, we've warned about overspending, overcommitting, and losing sight of the priorities that matter most. Good policy comes from balance, compromise, and listening to every perspective at the table. Colorado deserves better, and we owe it to the people of this state to make responsible decisions.

It was great to spend some time with the Association of Conservation Districts this morning celebrating Colorado Conservation Day!

It was an honor to have Department of Corrections officers and staff with us at the Capitol today. These men and women take on a tough, often thankless job to keep our communities safe and uphold the rule of law. Grateful for their service and proud to recognize the work they do every day for the people of Colorado.

When one store closes in rural Colorado, it is not just a storefront; it is jobs, food access, and even veterans’ care. Businesses are leaving, and it is only making the problem worse. We cannot keep squeezing our communities and expect them to survive.

In House District 47, a doctor’s appointment often means hours on the road and a complicated trip home. HB 1328 sets statewide standards for non-emergency medical transportation so every community has dependable rides to care. A statewide broker ensures smaller towns receive the same reliable service as our biggest cities. I’m grateful to keep moving this forward for the families who make HD 47 strong.
