I am deeply saddened and disappointed in the Governor’s decision to veto the Arizona Starter Homes Act. HB2570 was a historic bipartisan solution to our state’s housing crisis and it would have created a pathway to the American dream of homeownership.

While other states are proactively addressing housing in an urgent, deliberate manner, AZ continues to kick the can down the road. Status quo is clearly not working and believing that things will change without policies like the Starter Homes Act is, at best, wishful thinking.
@RepAnaliseOrtiz Analise, you are obviously serious about housing. You are one of few Leg’s I know that seem to understand how bad the shortage is in AZ. Would love to talk to you about it if interested.
@RepAnaliseOrtiz This is absolutely inexcusable. HB2570 is good for renters, good for homebuyers, good for the climate, and good for water conservation. Hobbs is inexplicably siding with NIMBYs for no good reason
@RepAnaliseOrtiz Is there like any way you can get to override the veto?
@RepAnaliseOrtiz I’m shocked you guys are shocked. She veto’s all good bills and doesn’t care about the people of Arizona. She dislikes you as much as she dislikes me.
@RepAnaliseOrtiz I am delighted she ruined your attempt to disenfranchise me
@RepAnaliseOrtiz Authoritarian state zoning deregulation that disenfranchises local voters for the benefit of profit-driven developers, with no requirement that anything they build is affordable, is not the solution to the problem you are trying to solve.
