Well, depends on the state of the people. Jeremiah lived in times when they were generally rebellious against God, so of cpurse they resisted him all the time. But Samuel was quite popular, for times were not yet that bad. What you are probably referring to, are these: 1Co 4:9 For I think that God has set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men. Act 7:52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which showed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom all of you have been now the betrayers and murderers:

@ReformedDoc Jesus seemed to be pretty popular. He often drew a crowd and was often presented before political and religious leaders. I’d say that’s a level of popularity and celebrity status.
