I see @EricClapton is touring again, so it seems timely to remind you he is a vile, far-right racist who previously supported Enoch Powell. For those who don't know, below is his rabidly racist rant from 1976. I strongly advocate people boycott his tour, music and other ventures.
Those worryingly far too willing to ignore Clapton's vile racism, simply because he is now allegedly pro-Palestine, would do well to educate themselves on his self-admitted, repeated abuse of Pattie Boyd. For absolute clarity, Clapton is NOT the good guy. nypost.com/1999/06/27/eri…
@RedCollectiveUK @EricClapton I’ll look forward to seeing him then 🙌
@RedCollectiveUK @EricClapton Yes, he did say those things, but it is nearly 50 years ago now ffs. He subsequently apologised and maintained friendships with many black musicians. His position on Gaza is good. Btw Bowie also praised Hitler at about the same time, but subsequently married a black woman.
@RedCollectiveUK @EricClapton To be fair he did apoligise for it and was heavily into substance abuse and drink at the time .id give him a break. All his black musician friends helped him. Peace
@RedCollectiveUK @EricClapton It's such a shame. I saw EC live (before 1976). Looked up to him as a brilliant musician. A role model. Then he made that speech. I was devastated. Still, at least it fueled Rock Against Racism. Solidarity!
@RedCollectiveUK @EricClapton Clapton was on self destruct mode in the mid 70s .. drugs will do that to a person.. regardless of wealth and fame..
