@HeideAnderson @recycles_west From the EPA, found a 2018 report with a that breaks it down by type of plastic. Above this one are tables by product category ex durable, nondurable, and packaging types, but the recycling, incineration, and landfill numbers are mostly blank. epa.gov/sites/default/…

@HeideAnderson @recycles_west There’s only 1 drop off location in CT that accepts styrofoam. Generally it’s accepted as non recyclable in the US. Most pickup or drop off services in the US do not accept it. While technically possible, current estimate is <1% of PS waste is recycled. cleanriver.com/blog-can-you-r…

@Greenpeaceafric It’s difficult to put the blame on consumers when we have so few choices that don’t use plastic. Think of the things that have either recently changed or hard to avoid being made from plastics. Shoes, car parts, pillows, beds, pleather products... the choice has been made for us.
