Pen names are not the problem, and mental illness is no excuse for the behavior we've seen in the writing community recently. Nobody owes the online community their full identity: for some, that's not safe. But in the interest of full disclosure, this is me. (Continued)
I am white: Irish, French, British, Scottish. Got a bit of Jewish/Middle Eastern ancestry sprinkled in there, but my family is murky on those details because that ancestor changed their name, probably for safety reasons. I'm cishet as well.
@RebeccaFKenney1 I do think however if they’re offered representation they should prove their identity, background etc to their agent one way or another. Doesn’t necessarily have to be video chat right away, I understand dysphoria and dysmorphia, I have bad body days.
@RebeccaFKenney1 Who thinks pen names are a problem? I would never tell my real name or reveal everything about myself online. People have used pen names for centuries.
@RebeccaFKenney1 I look white/Caucasian but that's due to nationalities on my Dad's side. My Mother is Puerto Rican born in Chicago. Both my Grandparents were born in Puerto Rico. Because people are like this now, I have to worry about being called out on my race. I'm not fake over here.
@RebeccaFKenney1 You could be generally ace spec. Also, Aces accept that you can be fictosexual, demi and and and, etc. But I'm not here to pick your labels for you. I just say ace/aro spec because it's complicated up in my head. Meh, I have a chart if you're interested in trying to figure it out
