Dear @iamHSDickson, First, let me commend the ongoing reforms within the NDC. Building a disciplined and structured political party is important for long-term stability and growth. However, I believe there is a need for caution in how some of these reforms are communicated. At certain points, the messaging came across as overly authoritative and could easily be interpreted as an attack on the party's most passionate support base; the Obidient Movement and the Kwankwasiyya Movement, both of which have played a significant role in giving the NDC visibility, energy, and grassroots momentum. One particular statement stood out: "All affiliated groups and NGOs shall operate under the guidance and control of the party and must not function in parallel with, or independently of, the party structure." While I understand the intention may be to promote coordination and prevent fragmentation, the wording raises an important question. How does the party intend to "guide and control" movements such as the Obidient and Kwankwasiyya movements, which were not created by any political party and largely operate as independent political and civic movements? These groups are not mere appendages of a party structure. They are organic movements with their own identities, leadership networks, and support bases. Their members chose to align with the NDC because they saw it as a vehicle for political change, not because they surrendered their independence. As the national leader of the party, it may be worthwhile to distinguish between affiliated organizations created within the party ecosystem and independent movements that have voluntarily lent their support to the party's broader objectives. The NDC's strength lies not only in its formal structures but also in the goodwill, enthusiasm, and voluntary participation of these movements. Therefore, the language used in discussing reforms should reassure these stakeholders rather than create the impression that their autonomy is under threat. Political coalitions thrive through partnership, mutual respect, and shared purpose, not through the perception of control. The Obidient and Kwankwasiyya movements remain among the strongest pillars supporting the NDC today, and every effort should be made to preserve that relationship.
