Grateful for those of you getting it touch to tell me about all the poor behaviour of those who have targeted me. Multiple accounts, workplace sackings, online bullying and stalking, constant trolling, tragic personal lives etc. Doesn’t surprise me one bit.

Very interesting response to a complaint I made about a professional’s use of oppressive language last month. Response from CAMHS is that they will be investigating the matter and are taking my concerns seriously. Good to see organisations of such stature taking action.

Lots of potential reasons why many social workers will turn on their fellow colleagues rather than try to support them. I’ve seen it for 2 decades in the workplace and see it online every night. Would be keen if anyone could point to research in this area.

There is also the issue of people being stuck in jobs they dislike and the bitterness creeping into their personal lives. Rather than accept the need to make changes, they distract from their own issues by harming others.

Other social workers come into this profession in an effort to right the wrongs that happened in their own lives. Perhaps their internal struggles lead to them projecting their own insecurities and anxieties onto others.

Many of the social workers younger than me (post-DipSW) came into the profession as a ’fall back’ after finding their degrees in criminology and sociology didn’t translate to jobs. Perhaps there is a chip on their shoulders.

Before I was a social worker I held roles in residential care, education and youth justice. In all my time I have never seen a vocation with as much in-fighting and internal bullying as social work. Little wonder we fail at advocating change on behalf of those we support.

@AMLTaylor66 @sophieayers1982 @socialworktutor @The_HCPC I believe that @The_HCPC released new practice guidance for social media actions last month. It was my concerns about the social media actions of @BASW_UK patron that resulted in them having to reveal that she had left the role. Like you, I agree this issue warrants attention.

@Youmustbejokin6 If you recall how you first contacted me a few weeks back, you may remember I talked about the importance of setting a good example to students who may follow lecturers online. In that sense I agree with your goal for doing ‘good’, but sadly haven’t seen it in your own efforts.
