Ever misjudge an entire group? I’m guilty of that. I’ll be honest, the term social media influencers made my skin crawl. It conjured up images of pop culture obsessed selfie taking millennials and I wanted nothing to do with it. I heard about real estate Twitter and had my doubts. People sharing what they know to help others? It sounded too good to be true. I had (have) zero ambitions of follower counts and social media influencer status. But, the idea of working out loud and helping to encourage the next generation? That’s what I’m all about. So I reluctantly moved away from observing and started posting about a year ago. Truth be told I had one goal and still do. It’s to promote educational resources and programs that help develop the talent our industry desperately needs. I also really wanted to show others that scrappy is ok and there is a place for everyone regardless of background. Yet, I learned something myself this year. Not all social media influencers are about clicks and likes and views. Some really are about influencing in a positive way. It’s my impression that the real estate community on Twitter/X is made up of mostly these types. That’s what makes it such a useful app. Thanks for sharing incredibly smart and useful content and keeping the makeup tutorials and pop culture rumors to a minimum. Some of the ones I have enjoyed the most recently: @investing_law, @moseskagan, @Bethazor1, @3NDeveloper @TeamHerrold, @tyleralley24 @BobKnakal and @realEstateTrent There are many others but a special shout out to those mentioned above.
@bethanyjbabcock Yeah you walk the walk. I see a lot of “influencers” here real estate included with click bate and attention farming. Your posts are always genuine. Thank you
