It is with great sadness that I have to withdraw from this amazing tournament at Indian Wells. Everyone knows how much I love this place and how much I love to play here. That’s also one of the reasons why I came very early to the desert to practice and try to get ready.
I have been working hard and practicing and you all know I took a test this weekend but I don’t find myself ready to play at the highest level at such an important event. It is not an easy decision, it’s a tough one as a matter of fact but I can’t lie to myself and lie to the thousands of fans. I will miss you all and I am sure the tournament will be a great success
@RafaelNadal You will be missed 🏆 Hope you are well soon.
@RafaelNadal Overall not a bad week: made tons of money with Carlos, gave lessons for $150k, probably played some golf, had good time in CA and now back home.
@RafaelNadal Rafa you are an immortal athlete. Your name belongs with Ali, Kobe, Jordan, Messi, Roger and all the greats that inspired humanity. Im so happy I got to see you in Vegas. I pray your body allows a shot at ending your career on your terms. Much love and respect.
@RafaelNadal Father time can be cruel... Be well Rafa
Sorry to hear this @rafaelnadal and I do wish you a speedy recovery, but at the same time, and with all due respect, you either need a new trainer, or a new attitude. To do this the night before your match, to fans who’ve spent thousands of dollars and taken time off of work just for you, leaving them with no choice to cancel or get their hard-earned money back, is really unprofessional and ungraceful. You fulfilled your obligation with Netflix just a few days ago in Las Vegas, and now you’re unable to play? I'm sure they paid you well. But, you shouldn't have played that match, with such a big tournament coming up, and you probably shouldn't have been golfing the past few days either. You really do owe it to the fans to be there for them at the biggest tournaments. Everyone understands major injuries, but not so much when this is par for the course for you and you’re playing an exhibition match and golfing leading up to things. The Los Angeles area was graced for many years by the late great Kobe Bryant, who pushed through everything, not just for the sake of competing, but as he himself said, for the paying fans. No Mamba mentality here ... Djokovic clearly gets it. Vamos? More like no mas. Just drove to Palm Springs and turned right around and came home … canceled hotel … out thousands of dollars in tickets for Thursday night and the Friday sessions. 👎🏼 Please take care of yourself before the French or Wimbledon. As upsetting as this is, we DO want to see you win, Rafa. 🎾
@RafaelNadal @BNPPARIBASOPEN Unfortunately, 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafa Nadal withdraws from Indian Wells!
@RafaelNadal Are the jabs showing their nasty side affects ⁉️
