I wrote @RadicalNext across a variety of locations — spanning the Costa Rican cloud forests, to the Ecuadorian Andes, and the Peruvian and Brazilian Amazon. The premise of my book: 𝗥𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗡𝗘𝗫𝗧 The original subtitle of this book was: “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲,” which is a concept I helped coin over a decade ago. As I began writing, I realized that we are moving out of a vernacular paradigm beyond computing and as such, metaphors like “𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗦𝗬𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠” will soon be outdated. In the book, I extend the concept to “𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗦𝗬𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠𝗦” which, like neural networks, will be much more connected, fluid, and adaptive.
