@hannytalker Salary deduction for lateness is unknown to the law because it is not a statutory deduction per Section 5 of the Labour Act. To protect businesses, employers should develop a clear attendance policy and include such in the employee handbook.

A lot of employers do not know that deducting employees' salary for lateness is against the law and unknown to Section 5 of the Labour Act. What employers should do instead is to develop a clear attendance policy.

@winexviv This is, indeed, a good idea. I use to know of an audit firm at Apapa that trains SSCE students as audit assistants. One of the perks which the firm offers is the sponsorship of these students' ICAN examinations from ATS. So, they learn, earn, work and prepare for the university.
