I still hear people arguing that prosecuting a former president sets a “dangerous precedent.” The truly dangerous precedent would be to establish that presidents are above the law.
@RBReich Nothing wrong with this tweet, Robert, I just wanted to ask if maybe you should talk to your doctor about switching to decaf. Best, Mark
@RBReich Good to know. Bush, Clinton and Obama are game. 😊
@RBReich Simply put, the dangerous precedent would be not prosecuting a former president for crimes he committed!!! Hasn’t Trump damaged our country, Democracy, justice system, law enforcement, and the population enough?
@RBReich I agree. I want Trump and Biden sharing a cell together in prison for their crimes.
@RBReich I mean it's setting one where anyone who has sold property above the taxed assessed value is now guilty of fraud. And anyone who took out a loan and used an asset that both the bank & client agreed on its value is also now guilty of fraud. That is what you're arguing for.
@RBReich Agreed. But why is he not being prosecuted for putting kids in cages or illegal drone wars? Answer: Because Democrats do those things, too.
@RBReich Dangerous when that former president is in a political battle that is being targeted by the executive branch led by his opponent. But you continue to gaslight Reich. You continue to cherry-pick your facts and mislead Reich.
