Apple should stop blocking competing stores and payment processors so it can add this 30% tax to digital transactions between developers and developers' customers. The App Tax serves no productive purpose and just inflates prices. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

To be fair and competitive, the payment processing market must be freed of all monopoly ties and rent impositions by app stores like Google’s and Apple’s. It’s not that “the 27% is too high”, it’s that antitrust principles preclude any such rent, regardless of percentage.

If any such rent were allowed on in-app payments, Google and Apple would have free reign to impose such a rent on any market gatekept by their operating systems and web browsers: physical goods, online banking, travel, employment. Two monopolies would control all commerce.
