@QuetzalPhoenix I hadn't read this particular post, but it's spot on. Perhaps we need a new foundation myth that begins with us cutting down the poisoned tree of the foundation myth that grew out of the false narrative about WW II to plant a new tree rooted in the soil of TRUTH.
@QuetzalPhoenix @VDAREJamesK For some of us, the foundation myth is still the American Revolution
@QuetzalPhoenix The thing is Tarantino seemed to be mocking the founding myth with his revisions in Inglorious Bastards. Or more specifically Hollywood's version of it. The Nazis are killed in an orgy of violence and revenge while watching a violent propaganda film of their own making.
He’s right. You could attempt to counter by a societal examination of the complexities of the real war as opposed to our propaganda, of Nazism as a defense mechanism against Communism, of our hypocrisy in allying with the Bolshevists who ethnically cleansed Christians in the millions to fight a group of people defending themselves against those same Bolshevists, but I don’t think any of that will work. It would involve tearing down our Gods, questioning whether equality is a good or an evil, or even possible at all. Asking ourselves if individuals do in fact make decisions in their own best interests, if liberty is a good for everyone or only for certain types of people. I don’t think we can actually even have those conversations in our current society. We will only learn this lesson through pain, a shared struggle against the consequences of our own lies, the slow realization that we ended our empire through weakness. Once we experience this, we can hope the fire still burns in our blood and something great can be born from the ashes.
@QuetzalPhoenix There's nothing to counter, it's correct.
@QuetzalPhoenix We need a new foundation myth, or an older one.
@QuetzalPhoenix Can’t fix it. I say this sincerely that we’ll have to start over.
@QuetzalPhoenix @VDAREJamesK It's one of my go-to explanations. There is no counter to it. It is 100% truth and this iteration of civilization must run its course (as we are seeing). The well was poisoned, and the victory of WW2 was ultimately a pyrrhic one.
@QuetzalPhoenix Counter it? You don't counter the truth.
