@PyraHacks then heard from @PoundsStan about #DataScience science used in all domains of research @StJudeResearch. Then Dr. Pounds talked to us about #biostats at St. Jude!

We started off the day with the intro to javascript workshop, and then some project work time!

Projects have been raised to $10 per project. PyraHackers have created 22 projects raising $120 for @StJude

Final update for day 1 student hackers in @PyraHacks have created 18 projects raising $90 for St. Jude.

In an unexpected but awesome turn of events @m_madan_babu & @wufgang stayed on the call to meet the PyraHackers present on the call! This was really cool, & we are so thankful for the passion & experience all the researchers from @StJudeResearch shared with the students today.

@PyraHacks then heard from @wufgang, who discussed his research in constructing computationally reconstruct complex circular chromosomes to better understand tumors. He also gave a very personal testimony to why his incredible life saving research is so meaningful to him.

@PyraHacks then heard from Dr. Li on her model's to find cures to brain tumors and access potential longterm damage caused by cures on the brain.

@PyraHacks then heard from @m_madan_babu on his team's research into using Network's to understand and compute operations within biological systems.
