John Lennon’s will left nothing to his son Julian. After a 16-year fight, Julian settled with the estate for a reported £20 million. He says he has been spending it buying his father’s things back. Julian was 17 when Lennon was killed in 1980. The will made no provision for him, only a small trust set up earlier. His lawyers argued that Yoko Ono unduly influenced the will in favor of her son, Sean. The settlement terms were never made public. In a TV interview, the host raised the detail that stayed with her: Julian had to buy, at auction, the postcards he and his father had written to each other. “I went. That’s disgusting.” He says Yoko auctioned off much of his father’s personal belongings, including instruments. “The most ironic thing is, with the settlement that I did receive, I’ve been buying his stuff back with that. So I’m buying his stuff back with his money, which is absolutely insane.” Of Yoko, he says: “I think she knew exactly what she was doing from day one. She played it innocent, but I think she had it all planned.” Yoko reportedly authorized the settlement. This month, Sean said he and Julian inherited the same amount. The estate sold the postcards. The settlement paid for Julian to buy them back. A will is the last thing a parent says to you, and what it leaves out can last a lifetime. Was Yoko protecting a legacy, or did she write a child out of it?

@0xDoktorFin The money is almost secondary here. He was paying to recover pieces of a relationship with his father that should never have been reduced to an auction.

@Plioric89 Bezos understood that being criticized and being wrong aren’t the same thing. He was willing to fix real mistakes without abandoning the long-term vision. How many founders can make that distinction?

@pegonch @MrTacticalX Opus took over 3x longer and cost 3x more. The real question is whether the final result was good enough to justify both.

@aaakr777 That’s what makes this different from an ordinary inheritance dispute. The items had sentimental value no amount of money could replace. Would you have fought to get them back too?

@pegonch The legal dispute was about the estate, but the emotional cost went far beyond money. Do you think a fair settlement can ever repair that kind of damage?

@EchoCast_ And the settlement terms were never made public, so the financial side remains partly unclear. Do you think personal belongings should be treated differently from other estate assets?

@aaakr777 The most dangerous part is that the person offering to protect his money was the one he trusted most. Sudden wealth can make it hard to tell who actually has your interests at heart.

@EchoCast_ The biggest opportunity might be smaller production runs. Brands could test demand before committing to thousands of units and sitting on unsold inventory.

@pegonch Opus wins on atmosphere, but paying 32x more for one scene is hard to justify unless the extra polish really matters.

Elon Musk offered $97.4 billion for OpenAI. Sam Altman turned him down in one sentence: “OpenAI is not for sale.” Musk co-founded the company in 2015 and later left. Now he runs xAI, a direct competitor, and has spent the past year suing OpenAI. Altman’s read on the bid: Musk is “probably just trying to slow us down.” He added that he wished Musk would “just compete by building the better products.” Asked whether the offer complicates OpenAI’s move to a for-profit structure, Altman said the nonprofit “will continue to exist” and “drive the mission.” He also said the board is still weighing options and that they’re “not sure at all.” Then came the question about insecurity at xAI. Altman said Musk’s “whole life” is probably lived from a position of insecurity. A moment later: “I feel for the guy.” He was just as dismissive of DeepSeek. Asked whether it distilled OpenAI’s models, he said they built a good model and that many people distill from many models. He didn’t answer the question. And when asked whether Musk’s proximity to the president worries him, he said “Not particularly. Maybe I should.” He said all this at the Paris AI Action Summit, where the most common request he heard was for Stargate infrastructure in other countries. Was that a CEO calmly refusing a hostile bid, or a rival who knows exactly how to get under Musk’s skin by sounding sympathetic?

@pegonch Right. Turning down $97.4B only makes sense if the future upside is worth more. Would you have accepted the offer?

@EchoCast_ Sometimes sounding unbothered is more effective than attacking back. Do you think Altman meant it?

@aaakr777 That’s the irony. Now they’re competing for the same users, talent, and infrastructure. Who do you think has the stronger position?

@pegonch Gemini went for the spectacle, Opus went for the details. Both look impressive, but for completely different reasons.

@EchoCast_ The real opportunity might be selling cleanliness as a service, not selling the robot itself. The hardware is just the starting point.

@fluixoo

Walter White vs Gus Fring Who is better?😁
