Medical doctors aren't psychologists. Nor are they "above" psychologists - both have knowledge in different areas. But when a doctor puts their patient's symptoms down to psychological factors, before ruling out medical factors, aren't they practicing outside of their field?
I know. Once, when I was 11 my GP came to visit my elder sister because she had a bad troat infection, but dismissed my symptoms as attention seeking. That was on Sat morning. On Monday morning I came back form school with 40 degrees fever! Never had such a high fever in all my life. Of course I was sick... 🙄
@PtsWithPower Always “possibly anxiety contributing to their symptoms”. Psychological factors are always a diagnosis of exclusion. Must rule out medical badness first then refer for psychiatric/psychological assessment.
@PtsWithPower They’re usually just mad they can’t figure it out so therefore it must not exist.
@PtsWithPower Maybe we should poll all the gaslighting doctors who tell women every single one of our symptoms are in our heads or just part of life.
@PtsWithPower @dawnimatrix I think it means they can't figure it out, so it must not exist.
