1.) My pro-abortion fans seem to have missed the point of the case at the Supreme Court this morning. The case is about health and safety standards for women to take a particular drug. Pretend it is not an abortion drug and follow me.
2.) In 2000, the FDA approved a drug - only for women, but it is only safe for a certain period (7 weeks following a certain event). Studies show it to be more dangerous for women after that timeframe.
3.) The FDA has strict guidelines for approving drugs, so any changes to the initial approval have to go through a Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy. Any changes would have to follow the protocol.
4.) There were concerns about the initial approval, with studies showing the drug did not work, causing the "issue" to continue for the women or a series of health effects. The exact numbers were unknown because women's healthcare doesn't receive the same attention as men's.
5.) However, the FDA thought the drug was more important to women than its alleged side effects. So, in 2016, they ignored their own protocol and allowed women to take the drug for up to 10 weeks even though they knew the risks of the drug increased.
6.) Women continued to be harmed, but they remained silent and alone, feeling abandoned for justice for their medical complications and trauma. Doctors started seeing more patients with complications. Yet, the FDA did not ask for or track data.
7.) In 2021, things were made worse for women when they no longer had to see a doctor before and could perform the medical procedure at home. In hospitals, there are strict protocols for medical waste. At home, many women resorted to flushing the "medical waste" down the toilet.
8.) Doctors and patients concerned about lax guidelines and safety standards appealed to the courts to reinstate safety standards and have the FDA follow standard protocol for approving drugs for women.
9.) The company that makes the drug is working closely with the FDA to continue their huge profit margin at the expense of women's health. All women should be concerned about this and demand justice.
10.) Some women have not had an issue with the drug, but it doesn't mean we should ignore the number of women who died, had major complications, and suffer from trauma today. We need to fix this and set an example that protecting women's health is a priority.
11.) Those making the argument that this is about abortion are doing a disservice. Because it is not. Women deserve high-quality healthcare and high standards of care. This current anti-regulation of this drug does not meet those standards.
@ProLifeDem Because the same people that made the problem are the ones to fix it. Sure. You keep believing they care AT ALL. Now do Viagra.
@ProLifeDem Mifepristone has a fatality rate of 0.0005%. It is safer than Tylenol, four times safer than penicillin, ten times safer than Viagra, and 14 times safer than childbirth.
@ProLifeDem It's about abortion. It's ALL about abortion, RELIGION, and controlling wome's bodies @ProLifeDem. STOP PHUQING GASLIGHTING.
@ProLifeDem 28 women died from using the abortion pill since 2000. 1,205 women died in childbirth just in the year 2021. Let's see, which one us safer?
@ProLifeDem I aas with you until 6) when you provided no evidence for your claim, & 11) when it absolutely is about abortion & gaslighting folks into thinking it’s about “women’s healthcare” while stealing it under the table.
@ProLifeDem You just happen to be an anti choicer Coincidence…
@ProLifeDem No. You are not speaking as a medical professional. You're literally spreading misinformation and propaganda. Being personally prolife is fine, but how dare you fight against women's right to choose and call yourself a Dem?? All while spreading lies! 🤦
@ProLifeDem Women in every state deserve access to healthcare. High standards of care mean women shouldn’t have to travel.
