The Bible Tells us when a Fetus Becomes a Living Being: Republicans believe that a human being is created at the time of conception, but the bible says otherwise. A sperm penetrating the ovum does not create life, but the formation of potential life, however the Bible is pretty clear as to when life begins, if you're a Christian who believes the bible as written and not for the convenience of your arguments. In Genesis 2:7 it states that God formed man, but he was not a living being until God breathed the breath of life into his nostrils and man then took his first breath. In Job 33:4 it states it was the breath of the almighty that gave me life. In Exodus if a man caused a woman to miscarry he shall receive a fine, but if the woman dies, he too shall be put to death. The difference in punishments is because one has life and one does not. This idea that abortion is murder is absurd on its face. Destroying a fetus simply does not equate to killing a live human being. We do not consider stillborns human beings, nor do we punish every man because all but one of his swimmers made it to its destination, and the rest died or were aborted on the journey. The Bible clearly states "Though shall not murder" and there are many offenses people could be put to death for, but abortion or a miscarry was not one of them. In 1973 Wallie Amos Criswell, President of the Southern Baptist Church said. "I have always felt that it was only after a child was born and had a life separate from his mother that it became an individual person". This was right after the Roe decision. The views were not so drastic then. If it was such a big deal in Jesus's day, he would have mentioned it. The fact is that abortion did not become such a hot political issue until after Reagan was in office and the Christian Right became more visible and it has become an obsession ever since then. Abortion is nothing more than a political football used to rally up a base of supporters. Biblical history has shown us that abortion was not an issue in the bible and it should not be one today. A woman's choice shall always be her choice because it is her body and her health that matters. What is really telling about Evangelicals is that they interpret the Bible the same way they interpret the Constitution...however they want...they interpret both by what their political agenda is and that is for a strong patriarchal society where man is in total control of the family, the church, and the government. That is what they believe and they want you to bow down to them. It is and always has been about white men...plain and simple...you just have to look for the clues and you will see it.
@PrezLives2022 Do you also believe God isn’t a fan of gay sex?
@PrezLives2022 Jeremiah 1:5 New International Version (NIV) “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” You are more than your physical body.
There are some serious eisegetical issues here: 1. Did you plagiarize this from @TheChristianLft? ---------- 2. Your Genesis 2:7 Claim Genesis 2:7 addresses the creation of Adam, not the procreation of humanity. Genesis 2:7 establishes Adam's status as “the first man” serving as “the progenitor of our species and the point of origin for human society" and has no association with the creation of Adam’s offspring or the continuation of humanity through conception and birth from the wombs of our mothers. read.lsbible.org/?q=Genesis+2%3… ---------- 3. Your Job 33:4 Claim When Elihu says "The breath of the Almighty gives me life” in Job 33:4, he is not referring to or pinpointing when human life begins, he is declaring his faith in Yahweh's majesty and sovereignty and acknowledging that Yahweh is the source of his existence. He is stating the only reason he is alive is because of Yahweh's grace and strength. read.lsbible.org/?q=job+33%3A4 Elihu is stating that "the breath of the Almighty" provides him the knowledge, insight, and understanding necessary to speak and correct Job, who is his elder. This can be seen in Job 32:8 when Elihu tells Job "The breath of the Almighty gives men understanding" read.lsbible.org/?q=job+32%3A8 The debate that Elihu had with Job, Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar had nothing to do with the biological requirements of how humans are formed in the womb nor does it set a biological line of demarcation for people to claim that humans in the womb are not alive. Job 32 - 33 (in full for context) read.lsbible.org/?q=Job+32-33 ---------- 4. Your Exodus Claim A fine is also applied if the mother dies. Exodus 21:22-25 did not “justify abortion” nor did it teach that a fetus in the womb was “not alive,” “not human,” had a “lesser moral value,” or was ever treated as “property.” In the Greek Septuagint, Exodus 21:23 explicitly equates the fetus as equal to its mother and if injured or killed, the financial or physical punishment would be the same as if the mother were injured or killed. The scenario described in Exodus 21:22-25 is not presented as murder but as unintentional harm or death to a pregnant woman or the fetus in her womb. This is due to the clear nature of the aggressor's intent, which was not aimed at causing harm or death to either the mother or fetus. Therefore, if either the mother or the fetus were to die, Lex Talionis would be applied in its financial form rather than its traditional form involving the death penalty. Your abortion is not murder claim The Bible outlines the intentional act of ending a fetus's life as murder. According to the Greek Septuagint, Exodus 21:23 states that causing injury or death to a fetus would result in the same punishment as if the mother were injured or killed. qbible.com/brenton-septua… The biblical punishment for intentionally ending a human life, including the fetus, as stated in the Greek Septuagint, is the physical application of Lex Talionis, life for life, as seen in Exodus 21:12: "He who strikes a man so that he dies shall surely be put to death." read.lsbible.org/?q=Exodus+21%3… However, the biblical punishment for unintentionally ending a human life, including the fetus, as stated in the Greek Septuagint, is a monetary application of Lex Talionis, pay life for life, as seen in Exodus 21:22-23: "But if there is any further injury, then you shall pay life for life.” read.lsbible.org/?q=Exodus+21%3… Jesus Christ explicitly condemns the shedding of innocent blood and taking innocent human life when He reinforced his Father's commandment "You shall not murder” “You shall not murder” - Exodus 20:13, Deuteronomy 5:17, Matthew 5:21, 19:17-19, Romans 13:9 read.lsbible.org/?q=Exodus+20%3… Yahweh condemns "shedding innocent blood" read.lsbible.org/?q=Genesis+9%3…
Despite a person's religious affiliation or lack thereof, life itself is generally considered sacred, unless martyrdom and the afterlife are one's sole center of existence. Where life actually begins and is considered viable depends upon the individuals stage and station in life, as well as their upbringing. Society is torn on this topic for several reasons - and arguments for or against are valid at least in one or more instances.
@PrezLives2022 @LongTimeHistory It doesn't matter. Keep your bible out of a woman's womb.
@PrezLives2022 Or we could just stop basing our moral compass on a book from the fiction section about the adventures of an imaginary sky wizard and try thinking critically
